It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility that I extend a warm welcome to all students, staff, academic supervisors, industry partners, and esteemed visitors to the Directorate of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
As the Director of SIWES, I am honoured to welcome you to this vital experiential learning arm of the University, established to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and practical industry experience through structured industrial training placements for students.
The Directorate of SIWES plays a key role in coordinating, supervising, and monitoring students’ industrial training programmes in collaboration with approved industry partners. Through effective placement management, supervision, and evaluation, the Directorate ensures that students gain relevant hands-on experience that enhances their employability and professional competence.
We are committed to excellence in experiential learning, student development, and industry collaboration. Our operations are guided by national SIWES policies and standards, aimed at ensuring that students acquire practical skills, workplace ethics, and technical competencies relevant to their fields of study.
In addition, the Directorate works closely with faculties, departments, and industry organizations to secure meaningful placement opportunities, provide adequate supervision, and ensure proper documentation and assessment of students’ industrial training experiences.
As you engage with the Directorate of SIWES, we encourage active participation, discipline, and commitment to learning in all assigned industrial placements. We also urge host organizations to continue supporting the development of future professionals through mentorship and practical exposure.
Thank you for visiting the Directorate of SIWES. We look forward to working with you in shaping skilled, competent, and industry-ready graduates.
